Doors Open Day: Free Family Workshops The Lighthouse
19 September - 20 September
All day

Past Event

As part of Doors Open Day on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September, The Lighthouse will be hosting a number of free events throughout the building. These drop in events will be held on a drop-in basis throughout the weekend and are suitable for family groups.

Re-Imagining the City - Gallery One, Level One

Let your imagination run wild as you recreate your favourite buildings or use your own imagination to design a building in 3D and help to create a township installation of ‘designer dens’ in the main gallery using a selection of recycled materials.

Blue Horizons - Long Gallery, Level Four

Get your blue sky thinking cap on and redesign the city’s skyline to create a giant frieze of what the city could look like from above using a selection of drawing materials.

Kaleidoscopic Skylines - Viewing Platform, Level Six

Readjust your eyes as we funk up the stunning views from the top of the Lighthouse using drawing, collage, text and coloured film to create a kaleidoscopic skyline installation on the windows.

These events are in addition to the Tea Green Events Art, Design & Contemporary Craft Market and free building tours which will run over the course of the weekend. The workshops are on a first come, first served basis - so please arrive early to avoid disappointment. All our exhibitions are also free to enter, see what exhibitions we have on here
