Glasgow Doors Open Day is now in its 26th year and we’re delighted to be offering a whole range of drop-in activities for you and your family. Doors Open Day is organised by Glasgow Building Preservation Trust and celebrates the City buildings, streets, parks, architecture, history and people with over 100 buildings taking part and ‘opening their doors’ to the public.
Here at The Lighthouse we have activities running on the 19th and 20th September. There will be free guided tours of the building throughout the day as well as a fantastic art, design and contemporary craft market with up and coming designers selling their gorgeous and unique products, organised and hosted by Tea Green.
For children we will have drop-in creative workshopsrunning throughout the building on both days. They can design a 3D building from recycled materials, take part in creating a giant frieze of the City using as much imagination as they like or they can join us in creating a kaleidoscopic skyline installation on the windows in our Viewing Platform. The workshops will be running all day so drop in and get crafting any time you like! More information via this link
Finally, Architecture and Design Scotland in collaboration with the Scottish Traditional Building Forum are running talks throughout the day on the 19th September as well as hosting child-friendly activities such as a treasure hunt, ‘I Spy’ and interactive computer games where you can build your own sustainable house or town.
