Swiss Positions charts a new generation of Swiss architects who are coming into their own, inspired by the legacy of architects such as Mario Botta and Le Corbusier they are delivering high-quality buildings while injecting a heightened responsibility for sustainable development.
The exhibition features photographs of key Swiss architectural and engineering achievements of the last twenty years. These 33 projects explore new technical possibilities concerning environmental protection and conservation issues. Among the exhibitors, Valerio Olgiati, Miller & Maranta, Buchner Bründler, EM2N, Localarchitecture and Gigon & Guyer are all architects engaged in creating, renovating or restoring the built environment, with a real concern for sustainable development. Their buildings can serve as models, as well as bearing witness to their capacity for innovation.
The exhibition is organised by the Federal Office for Foreign Affairs and the Cultural Department at the Embassy of Switzerland in the United Kingdom. The exhibition was curated by art historian and specialist in photography, Nathalie Herschdorfer and architect and researcher in the field of modern and contemporary architecture, Reto Geiser.
