Following the enormous success over the past five years, The Glasgow Awards 2018 are back for the annual celebration of everything that makes Glasgow a wonderful city. After an overwhelming response from the public over the past months with thousands of nominations received, the list of finalists has been compiled. The black-tie event will be held at The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow on Monday the 25th of June and promises to be a memorable event dedicated to people and businesses that make the Glasgow community the great place we all love.
The Lighthouse is one of the finalists in the Best Cultural Venue category. We will find out if we have managed to win the intense competition and collect the trophy at the elegant ceremony being held in June.
Theresa Searle, Economic Development Manager of The Lighthouse said:
"The Lighthouse is delighted to be nominated by public vote for this award. Our venue attracts visitors of all ages from locals to tourists worldwide. We are very proud of our Charles Rennie Mackintosh Heritage, especially since The Lighthouse was the first public commission completed by Mackintosh right here in the heart of Glasgow. We are also pleased to support the Creative Industry, in particular the Architecture and Design community of Glasgow and across Scotland through our exhibitions and series of activities. We hope that the judges will be impressed by the diverse range of activities going on at The Lighthouse so that we can bring the trophy home to the team."
The awards endeavour to acknowledge everyone who works hard to enhance the reputation of the city, from restaurants that serve delicious dishes to bars and clubs that keep Glasgow alive at nights, museums, shopping centres as well as charities and community initiatives that volunteer to benefit our community and make our lives brighter.
Numerous prestigious accolades will be awarded to the most deserving professionals and establishments in Glasgow, including Best Bar, Cafe of the Year, Festival of the Year, Business of the Year and Glasgow Young Achiever of the Year are some but to name a few categories being presented at the ceremony.
Irfan Younis CEO of Creative Oceanic said:
”We have had an amazing response from the Glaswegian people and we would like to thank the public for being so active during our nomination period. It is time to recognise those who make Glasgow so special. We are looking forward to welcoming all finalists and guests at the fifth Glasgow Awards 2018 and deliver another enjoyable and memorable event.
“We would like to congratulate all finalists for being shortlisted and we wish them the best of luck.”
In addition, The Glasgow Awards 2018 support the Well Foundation to fundraise for a worthwhile cause, a charity that provides safe, clean drinking water to countries in need.
