Charlotte Abrahams
The Pleasure and Importance of the Handmade Object
Conference Suite
13 November 2012
6pm
Craft is cool and handmade is hot again. Freelance writer Charlotte Abrahams, a lifelong fan of all things made by hand, talks about the daily joy of drinking from an imperfectly beautiful porcelain mug, the thrill of commissioning a unique piece direct from the maker and discusses why these things matter – both to individuals and the wider economy.
Charlotte Abrahams writes regular features and columns for the national press, including Financial Times How to Spend It, Crafts Magazine, Guardian Weekend, Telegraph Magazine and Elle Decoration. Her first book, Wallpaper the Ultimate Guide, was published by Quadrille in 2009. She also curates the new talent showcases Spotted and Spotted Plus at design–led trade fair Top Drawer.
