The Lighthouse and Cove Park Residency 2020 13 Aug 2020

This year The Lighthouse and Cove Park teamed up once again to offer a residency and exhibition opportunity for emerging craft makers, designers and architects. This fully-funded residency aims to support research and the development of new work, leading to a six-week exhibition within the Review Gallery at The Lighthouse.

Following the open call earlier this year The Lighthouse and Cove Park have worked together to select letterpress printer Ruth Kirkby as the recipient of the opportunity.

Ruth Kirkby is a letterpress printer living and working in Glasgow using traditional methods of printing with metal and wood type, but also experimenting with new techniques within the process. She is particularly interested in analysing the way we experience letterforms and society’s relationship to the written word throughout the history of typography. Alongside her own research led practice she works in collaboration with artists and designers using letterpress technology. Ruth also works as a Technician at the Glasgow School of Art in the school’s letterpress printing workshop and help run the Caseroom SWG3, organising workshops, events and providing technical printing support.

Due to Coronavirus we do not have an estimated date for reopening The Lighthouse and therefore we can't yet confirm when the exhibition will be, however Ruth will be undertaking the residency at Cove Park when it reopens this Autumn.
