Sue Biazotti: Hope Street 27 Apr 2013 – 27 Apr
The Orangebox Gallery

Sue Biazotti, winner of the prestigious Aspect Prize in 2005, has come back to her roots to examine her relationship with her home town.

The Hope Street collection will be on show at The Lighthouse, in the centre of Glasgow, on the 27 April for one day only.

This series of 22 paintings shows how the artist has begun to explore ways to paint her feelings about Glasgow:-

“I really wanted to look around and open my eyes to the city I walk through each day, and see what emerged, letting my subject matter come to me intuitively over time. I can never quite say why certain images ask to be translated into paintings. This series of Hope Street grew from a few studies I made, and then developed.”

All paintings in this exhibition are for sale and a limited edition of 100 giclée prints of the Hope Street paintings has also been produced. Each is priced at £95, and is numbered, signed by the artist and individually printed on high quality watercolour paper.

Biazotti is best known for her land and seascapes, and beautiful underwater paintings of swimmers. It was a painting of her then teenage daughter, Gabriella, swimming underwater, which captured the attention of the judging panel of the Aspect Prize in 2005.

The artist has also created a website, City Dark and Light, which will provide a platform for future work and events around Glasgow.

Open to the public: 10.30am – 4pm/ Private reception: 4pm-6pm
