What should the Scottish Government’s new architecture policy cover? What are your thoughts and priorities? Architecture and Design Scotland's latest exhibition seeks your Input + Ideas on Scotland's policy on architecture and place.

The exhibition - supported by the Scottish Government’s Architecture and Place Division - is aimed at inspiring the public to contribute to the creation of a new architecture policy.

Input and Ideas: Rethinking Scotland’s Policy on Architecture and Place - will be open to the public from May 30th and provides a platform for the public to get informed and involved in the formal consultation process.

Speaking ahead of the exhibition Architecture and Design Scotland’s Chair, Karen Anderson said, “Architecture affects everyone – it can make the places and spaces we work, live and play beautiful and functional and it can also help grow our economy and improve our lives. By shaping our places architecture also says who we are as a nation. Architecture and placemaking can help us address the economic, social and environmental challenges we face in Scotland. This accessible exhibition will allow the public to help shape those responses.”

The exhibition is roughly divided in three separate areas to allow a clear introduction to architecture in Scotland and the impact that the new architecture policy can have on our economy, environment and culture.

We Think - Visitors to the exhibition will be able to explore the current context of the policy development through profiles of some of the past 10 years’ most ground breaking and game changing projects in Scotland.

They Think - The main section of the exhibition looks at Ideas, Projects and Priorities nominated by people involved in the architecture and the built environment. It explains and details what priorities those involved in the sector believe capture the needs of the policy.

You Think – At the heart of the exhibition is the public’s chance to feed back ideas, priorities and questions about the policy consultation. The feedback will be submitted as part of the Scottish Government’s consultation process on the new policy. Visitors will be able to draw inspiration and knowledge from the other sections of the exhibition.
