Contemporary “Double Villa” Competition Entries 07 Apr 2017 – 26 Apr
Long Gallery

The Alexander Thomson Society announced an international ideas competition open to architects and students of architecture to celebrate the architecture of Alexander Thomson, one of Glasgow’s greatest nineteenth-century architect.

It was launched to coincide with the Year of Innovation Architecture and Design 2016 and culminates in 2017 with this exhibition of entries to mark the Bicentenary of the architect’s birth.

The objective of the competition was to invite designs for a contemporary interpretation of Thomson’s ‘Double Villa’, otherwise known as the Villa Maria, designed and built between 1856 and 1857.
