Best Use of Timber Awards 2019 28 Jan 2020 – 05 Apr
Sust. Gallery - Level 2

The Macallan distillery is set into the landscape of the 18th-century Easter Elchies manor estate in Speyside Scotland, a site that has been responsible for creating the whisky since 1824.

One of the most challenging timber structures ever built in the UK, the distillery roof responds to the requirement for the distilling processes’ generated heat to rise. The Glulam beams which form the roof are placed where their lightness and bending capacity can be demonstrated.
