The Glasgow Awards 2019 are back once again for a memorable celebration of the people and organisations that make up the city we all love.
The full list with finalists has been complied and the winners will be announced in a star studded night that will take place on Monday June 17, at The Marriott Hotel in Glasgow. The event aims to showcase key figures and institutions that enhance the city’s reputation nationally and internationally.
Glasgow is well known for its friendly people, whose creative thinking and innovative spirit bring them at the forefront of the business field they operate within. The city’s lively atmosphere makes Glasgow a top destination for visitors who seek to spend some time relaxing by exploring the city’s rich heritage.
Being the biggest city in Scotland, Glasgow attracts some of the most famous festivals and shows that keep the city alive all year round. These awards will recognise everyone that make Glasgow so special, from restaurants that serve delicious and unique dishes, bars and clubs that ensure unforgettable nights, museums, shopping centres as well as charities and community initiatives that contribute to making our future brighter.
The Lighthouse, Glasgow has been shortlisted in the Best Cultural Venue category for the second year running. The Lighthouse will find out if they will be crowned winners at the elegant ceremony taking place in June.
Theresa Searle, Economic Development Manager of The Lighthouse said:
"The Lighthouse is delighted to be nominated by public vote for this award for a second year running. Our venue attracts visitors of all ages from locals to tourists worldwide. We are very proud of our Charles Rennie Mackintosh Heritage, especially since The Lighthouse was the first public commission completed by Mackintosh right here in the heart of Glasgow. We are also pleased to support the Creative Industry, in particular the Architecture and Design community of Glasgow and across Scotland through our exhibitions and series of activities. We hope that the judges will be impressed by the diverse range of activities going on at The Lighthouse so that we can bring the trophy home to the team this year."
Marisa Ruettimann, Campaign Executive of The Glasgow Awards 2019, said: “The Glasgow Awards are now in their fifth year and celebrate the outstanding achievements of inspiring individuals that work hard to develop the cultural, social and economic life of Glasgow.
“There are some talented individuals whose valuable work often remains un-known to the public. We hope that these awards will provide a platform to thank everyone for their contributions and dedication to improving the quality of life in Glasgow and making it an exciting place to call home.
“We can’t wait to welcome all finalists and guests at the fifth Glasgow Awards 2019 and deliver an enjoyable event.
“We would like to wish all finalists the best of luck.”
In addition, The Glasgow Awards 2019 will support Variety Scotland, a charity that improves the lives of children and young people throughout the UK who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged.
