A Gathering Sapce by Gareth Hoskins Architects
For the 11th International Architecture Biennale, The Lighthouse commissioned a new temporary work of international significance. A memorable new place within Venice - a sculptural focal point that encouraged people to gather, pause, look, and engage creating a strong identity and presence for Scotland.
Designed by Gareth Hoskins Architects, their vision of, “the stairs as space”, offered both a sheltered auditorium and an external gathering space. It was a place to discuss architecture and ideas, a hub for events, presentations, lectures, and screenings and hosted events from the British Council, RIBA Journal and Blueprint during the opening week of the Biennale.
The 11th International Architecture Biennale was entitled Out There: Architecture Beyond Building and opened to the public from 14 Sep - 23 Nov 08.
