Inside the mind of Charles Rennie Mackintosh
Craft Design House
Conference Suite
15 June
2.00 - 3.00pm

Join the Lighthouse, Craft Design House, contemporary designers and Mackintosh experts for a unique glimpse into the mind and work of Mackintosh and those who have followed in his footsteps. Enjoy exclusive talks, witness craft demonstrations and enjoy browsing at an exclusive drop-in shopping event.

As the Lighthouse celebrates its 20th year as Scotland's national centre for design and architecture, in a building that was Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s first public architectural commission (initially as the headquarters of the Herald newspaper), it is fitting that this landmark venue continues to celebrate and explore Mackintosh’s legacy.

The Lighthouse’s Mackintosh Interpretation Centre is currently home to the Reflecting Mackintosh Collection. This collection of contemporary craft and design work commissioned by Craft Design House examines the continued influence of Mackintosh on 21st-century Scottish designer makers.

Every designer maker involved in the project created new work that reflected personally on Mackintosh’s life, influences and work in celebration of his 150th birthday.

A number of the designers involved in the project will be on hand to discuss and demonstrate their work. Exclusive guest speakers will include Margaret Stewart, and ECA lecturer on Architecture and the former curator of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Collection at the University of Glasgow. Margaret will be discussing Mackintosh’s innovative, playful and - at times - irreverent attitude to architecture. Other speakers to be announced.
