Hold the Front Page The Lighthouse
15 & 16 September 2018
Various Hours

In connection with The Happenstance exhibition in Gallery One there will be a host of events in Mitchell Lane this Doors Open Day weekend! Titled "Hold the Front Page" this fun, community events looks at the history and heritage of the Lane.

Artists, Ruby Pester, Brian Hartley and Hannah Brackston, will be present on the Lane on 15th September (11-5 pm) and 16th September (12-4 pm) to engage with visitors and businesses. They’ll display larger than life, 2d illustrated ‘props’ detailing some of the playful objects that characterise the products and services made and sold on the Lane. The props will also be used for games and activities that people can participate in.

The artists will also invite people to tell stories or make drawings relating to the history and happenings in the lane and record them on large newspaper pages to connect the history of the Herald Newspapers (that once had its offices at the Lighthouse) and present residents, businesses and visitors. As the huge pages fill - they will be hung up, laid out across the street and used as props for games and tasks.

This is a free drop in event for all ages.
