Doors Open Days The Lighthouse
17 & 18 Sep

Over the course of the Doors Open Days weekend The Lighthouse will host a series of free events relating to the flagship Year of Architecture Innovation and Design exhibition; Adventures in Space.

There will be a number of drop-in workshops aimed at getting children excited by the positive impact that design has. In line with our Adventures in Space exhibition these designer-led workshops will allow visitors to explore the design of the future and create space inspired crafts.

Music Box Migrations Workshop

Sunday 18th September
Drop-in between 1pm & 4pm
Mackintosh Centre, Level 3
For all ages

Master the art of making an Origami bird and create its flight path in sound with Music Box Migrations.

Space Themed Craft Workshops

Saturday 17th: 10.30am - 4pm
Sunday 18th: 11.30am - 4pm
Ground Floor & Level 3
For all ages

Drop-in to our craft workshops where you can make rockets, shooting stars, alien masks, astronaut helmets and more.

The finished pieces will be suspended from the ceiling on Level 3 against a black space background to create a unique galaxy!

Other Activities

Help transform our Viewing Platform into a futuristic space ship, redesign the architecture of Glasgow's future on the windows or check out the inflatable planetarium, complete with pieces of rock from space!

There will also be a craft market hosted by The Urban Market, showcasing products from a curated selection of Scottish makers, producers and designers as well as guided tours allowing visitors to learn more about the history of The Lighthouse building.
