Green Tourism Business Scheme

Green Tourism Business Scheme

Our Environmental Commitment
Through our exhibitions and programmes we champion sustainable design and architecture however as a leading Glaswegian visitor attraction and an organisation of over 70 staff we recognise we need to also minimise the impact that our everyday operations have on the environment.

This year The Lighthouse joined the Green Tourism Business Scheme giving us the framework to reduce the environmental impact of all our business activities and become a sustainable tourist attraction.

Over the last few months we have made a number of changes to our business operations from recycling and using low-energy light bulbs to sourcing local products for our shop and using Forset Stewardship Council (FSC) accredited paper - we even compost our teabags! We are currently being assessed and hope to be awarded a silver or gold rating.

We encourge our visitors to play their part when visiting The Lighthouse by using public transport and returning visitor guides to reception at the end of their visit.

For more information see our environmental policy.
