Bewitching Bewinter - The Lighthouse showcases new work from celebrated Tait and Style
06 Dec 06Celebrated knitwear designer, Ingrid Tait, has taken the art of needle-punching to a new level in her Orkney-based company, Tait & Style. She discovered the technique that bonds unspun wool and had historically has been used mainly to create wadding and insulation materials in the mid 1980s, and using it has gone on to create some of the most innovative fashion fabrics of recent years.
The Lighthouse, Scotland’s National Architecture and Design Centre, is now set to create a winter wonderland in its Review Gallery, the centrepiece of which is two wooden trees draped with colourful carves, stockings and knitted ‘beasties’ from Tait & Style’s Bewinter collection.
