02 Nov 07
A celebration of the work of the legendary architects Andy MacMillan and Isi Metzstein was unveiled today, 1 November 2007, at The Lighthouse, Scotland’s national Architecture and Design Centre. Comprising an exhibition, a book and two specially commissioned films, this is the first major survey of their years at the helm of the Gillespie, Kidd & Coia practice (1956–1987).
Among the Modernist masterpieces designed by the partnership of MacMillan and Metzstein are St Peter’s Seminary, Cardross; St Brides Church, East Kilbride; the library at Wadham College Oxford and Robinson College Cambridge, and their legacy includes a remarkable series of buildings commissioned by the Roman Catholic Church in the 1950s and 1960s.
