What’s happening in our Mackintosh Interpretation Centre? 12 May 2015

Our Mackintosh Interpretation Centre (or the Mack Room as we like to call it) is located on Level 3 here at The Lighthouse.

When you first enter the Mack Room you will notice some very unusual costumes displayed along the wall leading to the Helical Staircase entrance. These costumes were designed by Alex Rigg and worn during the Creative Mackintosh Festival earlier this year. Each design was inspired by the paintings and buildings of Mackintosh himself.

These costumes will be leaving The Lighthouse at the start of June and taking up residence in a new home for the summer (this will be confirmed very soon), make sure you come and see them before they move on.

On the 9th June we will have a brand new exhibition opening in our Mack Room called MacMag. This exhibition will predominately focus on the release of the 40th edition of the magazine.

MacMag is a student-edited compendium of essays, projects and ideas from Glasgow’s Mackintosh School of Architecture.

Each issue in the exhibition has been kindly donated to the Glasgow School of Art library after the fire in May 2014 and we will be celebrating this joint effort by showcasing the collection as a whole.

The Mackintosh Unbuilt collection is currently located at The Willow Tea Rooms on Sauchiehall Street and will remain there until the autumn when they will return to The Lighthouse.

Visit our Mackintosh Centre page for more information and please make sure you come visit us soon!
