We currently have an open call for proposals for our new Gallery 2a - located next to the Material Considerations Library on Level Two.
We are looking for applicants from all backgrounds to carry out a long-term project in the space (6 months) that would react to one of the categories of materials in the library: wood, stone, plastic, cement, paper, plaster, glass, brick, sand, paint, etc. Time can be split however seems suitable but should ultimately culminate in an exhibition to be installed in the space. We hope that the successful applicants will be ambitious but also thoughtful, discussing some contemporary issues around materials and sustainability in general.
The Material Considerations Library is open daily and where possible we would encourage applicants to visit before preparing applications.
Each successful application will receive a stipend to help cover materials and costs. They will also receive in-kind support from The Lighthouse for the exhibition, any events, install, de-install and advice.
The deadline for entries is Monday 30th October at 5pm. If you would like to apply then please contact Erika Silverman for an application form (firstname.lastname@example.org).
