St Peter’s Seminary was designed by Gillespie, Kidd and Coia for the Archdiocese of Glasgow. Opened in 1966 it is currently a hazardous ruin. The exhibition shows the seminary redevelopment plan by Avanti Architects, and master-plan by landscape architects ERZ, to partially restore the building and open up the estate for woodland walks and community activities.
NVA’s vision is for Kilmahew/St Peter’s to become a productive landscape to sustain a national research centre and public art landscape. This new educational idea, The Invisible College, provides facilities for an annual programme of exhibitions, events and performances. Murray Grigor’s Space and Light Revisited presents two films shown simultaneously; his 1972 film of the working seminary beside his 2009 shot-by-shot remake filmed in the ruined shell of the building.
