Building a Legacy - The Athletes’ Village 16 May 2014 – 14 Sep
Gallery One

The Athletes’ Village exhibition shows one of the most visible examples of the legacy
of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. At the heart of the Clyde Gateway urban
programme, this development is the catalyst for regenerating Glasgow’s East End.

Featuring 700 sustainable eco-homes and a 120 bed care home, it is the most significant
housing-led regeneration initiative currently underway in the UK. It is being delivered by
the City Legacy consortium - consisting of CCG, Cruden, Mactaggart & Mickel and WH
Malcolm, working effectively in partnership with Glasgow City Council to create a long
lasting legacy for the city.
This Athletes’ Village is helping Glasgow to achieve its vision of becoming one of the most
sustainable cities in Europe. The energy centre and many sustainability features of the
homes showcase best practice in sustainable living and development.

The East End of Glasgow was once a thriving industrial community and this exhibition
charts how this unique development is breathing new life into this part of the city.
